A SPECIAL SPRING THANK YOU
Spring
is a time for experiencing those special moments of new growth. It’s an
invigorating time to appreciate everything that was hidden away in winter’s
cloak. The Town of Marlborough and the Selectmen’s office has also found it
a time to appreciate the ethical values of four young ladies, Brenna Kaplan,
Bradley Rhodes, Kelly Moquin and Rebecca Billings.
While walking on South Main Street Thursday, April 24th
they found a bank deposit pouch containing a small amount of money. The
pouch was brought to the town hall so it could be returned to its rightful
owner.
The whole community shares the appreciation of the
Selectmen’s offices for bringing an exceptional brightness to our spring.
Thank you.

VOLUNTEERS
NEEDED
Experience
in emergency response over the years suggests some common
necessities that the public will require to meet health, safety
and lifesaving needs in the aftermath of a community crises.
They include potable water (usually bottled), packaged ice,
meals ready to eat (MRE’s) and other supplies.
When the need for commodities exceeds the Town and State
capability, FEMA may be called to provide additional
requirements.
Part of the planning to receive these commodities for
distribution to the public requires adequate facilities,
equipment and manpower. Volunteers are needed to man our
distribution center and hand out supplies at Elmer Thienes
School in the event of a crisis.

HOW TO ALERT
9-1-1 TO YOUR SPECIAL NEEDS You should complete
the form in the link
if you want your police department, fire department, ambulance,
or other emergency response agencies to know about medical
conditions or disabilities when you call 9-1-1 in an emergency.
When you call 9-1-1 from a wireline phone, Connecticut’s 9-1-1
emergency telephone service displays your name, address, and
telephone number at your local 9-1-1 answering point. (A
wireline phone is a phone that has a wire from a telephone pole
to your home.) Filling out this form will alert the 9-1-1
operator that you or someone else living in your household has a
medical condition or disability. This information helps the
9-1-1 operator to provide appropriate emergency help.

911 REFLECTIVE SIGNSThe Marlborough Park &
Recreation Commission is conducting a fundraiser selling "911
Reflective Number Signs" to local residents. The cost of the
sign is $20. Having the 911 Reflective Sign in front of your
home helps Emergency Services Personnel find you without delay.
This reduces the risk of losing precious seconds searching for
the number on your house. The Vertical sign is 8" X 24" and
should be mounted near the street entrance of your home business
driveway. The engraved numbers are 4" high on
blue highway reflective metal.

Recreation page:
