Barbara C. Murray, Tax Collector, is pleased to announce the
tax office will be accepting on line credit card payments
starting April 20, 2007. Taxpayers have the option to pay
their taxes via Master Card or Visa. Their is a
convenience fee per transaction of
2.75%
of the total bill. The Tax Office is not allowed to
accept credit card payments; credit card payments must be
paid on line.
The Tax Office is working on upgrading the payment site for
the July, 2007 collection cycle to include ACH payment from
your checking or savings account. We encourage all
interested taxpayers to view this payment link on the Town
of Marlborough’s website. |

NOTICE
Tax
Collector, Barbara C. Murray, reminds Marlborough taxpayers that
tax bills on the Grand List of October 1, 2006 are due and
payable July 1, 2007.
Real estate, motor vehicle and personal property bills $500.00
or less are due in one installment and bills over $500.00 are
due in two installments, July 1st and Jan. 1, 2008. Bills are
mailed out in June for both installments; there is no mailing in
January. Late bills will be charged 1.5% per month and reverts
to the delinquent installment due date. Minimum interest charge
is $2.00. The last day to pay the July installment without
interest is Wednesday, August 1st.
Taxes are payable at the Tax Office, Marlborough Town Hall, 26
No. Main St. or mailed to Barbara C. Murray, Tax Collector, P.O.
29, Marlborough, CT 06447. Please enclose a self-addressed,
stamped envelope for a receipt. The tax office is open 8:30 a.m.
– 4:30 p.m., Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Tuesday 8:30 a.m.
– 7 p.m., Friday 8:30 a.m.- Noon.
The tax office is accepting on line credit card payments through
this official town website.
Failure to receive a bill does not invalidate the tax or
interest. New homeowners without a bill must call the tax office
to obtain a bill.

| The Tax Collector is responsible for the collection of real
estate, motor vehicle and personal property taxes.
The Tax Collector organizes, directs and coordinates the
collection procedures according to Connecticut State Statutes
and Town Ordinances. In addition, the Tax Collector also
collects aircraft fees. Currently, there are seven airplanes at
the Salmon River Airfield.
Tax bills are mailed in late June. The first installment is due
July 1st and the second installment is due January 1st. Bills of
$500 or less are due in one installment; bills over $500 are due
in two installments. Delinquent bills accrue interest at the
rate of 1.5% per month reverting to the due date. Failure to
receive a bill does not invalidate the tax or interest.
The adjusted taxes collectible for the 2004 Grand List was
$13,664,634 of which $13,604,634 was collected. For the Fiscal
Year 2005-2006, the collection rate was 99.3%. The total
collection of current tax, back tax, interest and fees was
$13,770,165.
The Tax Collector and staff, Pat Plourde, Dot Gelsomini and Ann
Preissner are available to answer any questions or concerns
regarding tax bills. The tax office strives to maintain a
professional and friendly office. The tax office has extended
hours during the months of July and January.
