Planning Commission

The Planning Commission holds regular monthly meetings on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm at Town Hall.

The Commission’s regulatory authority is to review applications for subdivision/resubdivision of land. Also, in accordance with CGS 8 - 23 the Commission at least every ten (10) years prepares, adopts and/or amends the Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD) the master plan for Town growth. Additionally, the Commission reviews proposal to amend the Zoning Regulations and the Zoning Map for compatibility with POCD and makes determination of compliance or non-compliance. Further, in accordance with CGS 8 -24 the Commission reviews and makes recommendations for municipal improvements such as streets, parks, playgrounds, schools, land acquisition, sewer and water extensions as well as reviewing the annual Town Capital Budget.

The Commission facilitates public participation in the community planning process by conducting public hearings, community meetings, and workshops on various topics as it develops the POCD and other long range planning documents. Seeking input from residents, businesses, and other stakeholders is done by the Commission to provide residents an opportunity to actively participate in the planning process that determines land use and infrastructure polices of the Town.
