Several town departments work to provide our residents and the general public with the information and services they require from our town government.

There are several non-regulatory and regulatory boards and commissions. These are established by either the Charter or by Ordinance. They provide goals, guidelines, policy and procedure for certain departments.

Non-elected members of boards and commissions are appointed by the Town. If you are interested in volunteering on a board or commission, please contact the Town Clerk for complete information concerning vacancies, eligibility, and the interview and appointment process.

The State of Connecticut offers a rebate program for individual renters who are age 65 years or 100% totally disabled. You must reside in the Town in which you are filing for at least a period of 6 months. Application time is between April 1 through October 1, 2017.

 

This program is based on qualifying income. Maximum in come for married couples is $42,900 and $35,200 for single individuals. Proof of 2016 Income must be provided. You must also provide proof of payment for utilities and rent paid for the year 2016.

The Town of Marlborough offers a tax abatement program that pays a portions of your real estate taxes. Nothing is due back to the Town. This program is also based on your 2016 Income. Maximum qualifying income is:   $28,900  married couples and $23,600 single individuals.

 

Qualifying married couples receive a $500 tax break whereas single individuals receive a $300 tax break.

Proof of 2016 must be submitted with the Assessor upon application.

 

Filing time is between February 1 through May 15, 2017.

The State of Connecticut offers tax break benefits to homeowners in the Town in which they are domiciled who are 65 years old or 100% totally disabled, based on qualifying income. This program pays a portion of your real estate taxes, with no amount of it due back to the State.

 

The qualifying maximum income for the year 2016 is: $42,900 for married individuals and $35,200 for single individuals.

 

Filing time is between February 1 through May 15, 2017. You must present your 2016 Income Tax Return when applying in the Assessor’s Office. If you do not file an Income Tax Return, you must bring in the documentation of all 2016 income, regardless how small. Income includes Pensions, Annuities, Yearly Wages, Social Security, lottery winnings, and interest from interest bearing accounts.
